Step 1:
Starting with a large “Initiator Rock” in approximately 1 metre (3”) of water depth near  the shoreline. Construct the nest away from locations where it will pose a navigational or safety hazard

Step 2:
Using stones of this size range to construct walls of nest. The wall width can be constructed wider as this will create more spaces for bass fry to hide in and will provide ideal habitat for the crayfish and aquatic insects that the bass feed on.

Step 3:
Pile rocks in a horseshoe shape with the open side facing off shore towards the deeper water. The area inside the nest walls should be about the size of a car tire.

Step 4:
Place a low row of stones across mouth of the nest to hold the gravel in

Step 5:
Using pea sized gravel as the ideal spawning substrate for bass eggs to be incubated on

Step 6:
Add clean pea gravel to the interior of the nest

Step 7:
Spread out gravel evenly to a depth of about 10 cm (4”) on the interior floor of nest.
